Chianti Wine of Italy
In central Tuscany of Italy, there is a region known as Chianti famous for producing one of the world’s best wines. Chianti wines have derived its name from this famous wine region of Italy. Chianti wine is a very popular red Italian wine. It is prepared by blending 10% Canaiola, 75-100% Sangiovese and up to 20% of any other approved red grape variety such as Syrah, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. The minimum content of alcohol in Chianti wine is 11.5 percent.
In previous days, Chianti wines were typically basket bottle wines which were served on a red checked table-cloth. During old days, Chianti wines were also served holding a romantic candle. Now-a-days these wines typically come in a standard glass bottle. An individual bottle of Chianti wine displays an elegant image. Chianti is a famous red wine, bold and strong. The flavors in these wines include almonds, coffee, plum, vanilla, tobacco, spice, strawberry and cherry. The producers of Chianti wines reduced the amount of white grapes in it during 1970. During 1995, it turned out to be legal for the winemakers to generate Chianti wines from 100 percent of Sangiovese grape variety. On the neck of the bottle of Chianti wines there can be a photograph of a black rooster, which symbolizes that the winemaker is a member of a prestigious association termed Gallo Nero Consortium. After aging Chianti wines for 38 months it may be labeled as Riserva. A wine that is very stringent in terms of dry extract, higher alcohol level and lower yield is often termed as Chianti Superiore.
