Rioja Wine of Spain
Rioja is a region in Spain; which has a long and rich history of producing best wines in the world. Spain is known for having the biggest area dedicated to the wine growing region than any other country in the world. Rioja is a wine which has derived its name from the famous Rioja region in Spain.
Rioja wine is generally a blend of different grape varieties, and can be white (blanco), rose (Rosado) or red (tinto). Rioja region yields 250 million liters of wine every year and 85% of it is red wine. Rioja wine is prepared by three vital regions of Rioja: - Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja. These three regions produce Rioja wine in its own unique way. Rioja red wine is prepared by utilizing most widely used and best known grape variety- Tempranillo whereas Rioja white wine is prepared from Viura combined with Garnacha Blanca and Malvasia.
The Red Rioja is the most popular style of Rioja. These wines are bold and classic accompanied with fine taste of their Tempranillo roots and have a fresh, bright flavor. Rioja Red wines do not need decantation. The Red Rioja is an excellent version of Rioja wines and goes well with hearty meats and steak. The White Rioja wine also known as Rioja Blanca is greenish-yellow beverage and has a fine flavor and aroma. The Rose Rioja is strong and refreshing and is prepared from Garnacha grapes that are bright pink in color. In preparation of Rioja wines; seven kinds of grapes are used. The grape variety used for the preparation of Red Rioja wines are – Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha Tinta and Mazuelo. The grape variety used for the preparation of White Rioja wines are – Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Malvasia.
