The wine made from this grape is usually light and crisp and has a grassy flavor. The wine also and has a high acid content. It is often called Fume Blanc in the United States. The wine is usually not aged as it can be best enjoyed when young. The grape is extensively grown in France, California, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Brazil. The grape is also used for producing some famous dessert wines.
