Asian Abalone with Lemon grass

Asian Abalone with Lemon grass- Spicy Hot Asian Exotica

Craving for some spicy food? Prepare this spicy hot dish and pair it with a Riesling or Gewurztraminer, you’ll experience an excellent Asian fiesta.

Ingredients

Abalone – 1 (or 1 can of abalone)

Bottom 2 inches of lemongrass stalks

Green onions or scallions (thinly sliced) – 5

Garlic cloves (thinly sliced) – 3

Ginger (peeled and grated) – 2 inch piece

Red Thai chilies (thinly sliced) – 1-3

Cilantro (chopped) – 2 tbsp

Corn starch – 1 tsp

Mirin or other Asian cooking wine – 3 tbsp

Oyster sauce – 3 tbsp

Soy sauce or Vietnamese fish sauce – 1 tbsp

Canola or peanut oil – 1 tbsp

Asian sesame oil – 1 tbsp

Steamed rice (keep it ready before starting the recipe)

Preparation

Cut abalone into thinly sliced pieces.

Whack the lemongrass stalk with back end of knife and cut into very thin slivers. Further chop these slivers into smaller pieces.

Mix both the oils in a large frying pan (or wok) for a couple of minutes on a very high flame.

Put lemongrass, garlic, chilies green and onions and stir fry it for 2 minutes.

Add the cornstarch and Mirin (or other wine). Don’t let any lumps form.

Finally add the abalone, stir fry for 40-45 seconds and serve.
