People from all over the world travel to Miami Beach every year to enjoy the country’s largest wine and food festival. The South Beach wine and food festival is an event of four days exhibiting the world’s popular spirits and wine producers, culinary personalities and chefs. This festival is hosted by Florida International University and Southern Wine and Spirits of Florida.

The festival was started in the year 1997 at Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus. At that time it was a single day occasion known as “Florida Extravaganza”.Later in 2001, it was shifted to South Beach and was renamed as the South Beach Wine and Food festival. This renowned festival attracted more than 7,000 guests at that time. In 2002, the festival grew with seminars, series of dinners and Live Auction and a Grand Tasting. The following year, the festival attracted over 20,000 guests with the revamping of a program and addition of numerous events. During the celebration of its fifth anniversary in 2006, the South Beach wine and food festival became one of the most eminent and biggest festival or carnival of its category in the country. Food Network started partnership with the South Beach wine and food festival in 2007 to become its title sponsor. The Food Network South Beach Wine and Food festival attracted more than 50,000 visitors in 2008 and 2009. The Festival received over one billion media impressions through its public relations plan and integrated marketing in both the years.

This festival in 2010 was full of enjoyable events such as: - Wine Spectator’s best of the Best at the American Airlines Arena, Guy Fieri’s Moon over Miami Closing Party at Ganesvoort South Beach, The Grand Tasting Village and Tribute Dinner at the Loews. The Festival Director and Founder Lee Brian Schrager said that 2010 was marked as a year full of events and great success. He further added that this year attracted huge number of tourists and also raised hefty amount of money for Florida International University. In this wine and food festival, varieties of wine and outstanding culinary personalities and chefs are mainly responsible for keeping the atmosphere over there vibrant and lively.
